We are capable of creating hardcover bindings using real leather skins. We typically use goatskin bookbinding leather or cowhide bookbinding leather.
Not all colors are available and the availability of bookbinding leather in general can be unreliable. We do not stock a large quantity of leather and often have to order materials for each custom order. This adds to the turnaround time.
Leather book covers start at $125 per book. There is no quantity discount as every step is done by hand and a leather cover can cost several hundred dollars PER BOOK depending on the type of leather used.
There are "extras" that can be added to custom leather bindings including raised bands on the spine, permanently-attached ribbon book markers, and hand-marbled endpapers. All of these affect the cost of the project.
