NOTE:  These prices are for BINDING ONLY.  These prices do not include the printing of the pages.  You can mail your printed pages to us, or we can put you in contact with a trusted local printer who can print your pages from an electronic file on the appropriate paper for binding.  Please see the "printed pages" section on this website for more information.

Thesis, Dissertation, and Micro-Edition Binding

Pages are sewn together and hard covers are covered with a cloth-based cover material (we have over 40 colors and textures available; please contact us to discuss what color you want the cover to be).  Lettering is added with foil stamping in a variety of colors (please contact us to specify stamping color).

Sewn Softcover Binding

Sewn softcover bindings have the pages sewn together (as they would be in a hardcover book), but we use a heavy cover-weight paper for the front and back covers (we can copy your title page information onto this heavy paper cover).  The spine is covered with a solid-color strip of cloth.  We cannot print in foil lettering on softcover books (the spines are solid-color and blank).  This is a very durable softcover book due to the fact that the pages are sewn together.

Leather Bindings

Leather binding prices vary depending on the type of leather used and how many "extras" are involved (raised cords on the spine, marbled endpapers, etc.)

Full leather binding  ~  minimum $100.00

1/4 Binding (leather spine, cloth or paper front & back covers)  ~  minimum $125.00

3/4 Binding (leather spine & corners, cloth or paper front & back covers)  ~  minimum $150.00

Limp leather binding (softcover in leather)  ~  minimum $100.00

Foil stamping on cover and/or spine  ~  50 cents per word or decoration

Decorative "Extras"

Marbled paper endpapers (available with cloth or leather covers)  ~  add $20.00 to the price of the binding

Raised cords on the spine (available on leather covers only)  ~  add $20.00 to the price of the binding

Title skiver (a skiver is a small piece of very thin leather that appears on the spine, usually with title and author information - this is a very traditional look that you often see on law books)  ~  add $20.00 to the price of the binding

Boxes

We make custom slipcases and clamshell boxes to fit your book perfectly.

Slipcase (typically covered in cloth)  ~  $50.00

Clamshell Box in cloth (cloth front cover, spine, back cover, and sides)  ~  $150.00

Clamshell Box with a full-leather cover (leather front cover, spine, and back cover with cloth sides)  ~  $175.00

Clamshell Box with 1/4 leather cover (leather spine, cloth front & back cover with cloth sides)  ~  $200.00

Clamshell Box with 3/4 leather cover (leather spine & corners, cloth front & back cover with cloth sides)  ~  $225.00

Rebinding & Repair

Prices for rebinding and repair vary depending on the condition of the book in question and the materials used to repair it.  These prices are rough guidelines only and we need to see the book IN PERSON before we can give you a firm quote on rebinding and repair prices.

Installing new endpapers   ~   minimum $5.00 per endpaper

Reassemble a book that has a completely intact cover (but pages are falling out)  ~  minimum $20.00

Lay in a new spine/reassemble  ~   minimum $50.00

New cloth hardcover binding  ~  minimum $50.00

New cloth 1/4 binding (spine color is different from front & back cover color)  ~  minimum $60.00

New cloth 3/4 binding (spine and corner color is different from front & back cover color)  ~  minimum $75.00

Limp cloth cover (a flexible cover made of cloth...can be imitation leather which is cloth with a leather texture...this is often requested when repairing personal-size flexible cover Bibles)  ~  minimum $60.00

Binding Periodicals (Magazines & Professional Journals)

This area of binding is dying out as more and more information is available online, but we still do binding of periodicals.

$5.00 PLUS the actual shipping cost.  We ship through the Post Office and UPS but can also use FedEx if you request it.
